UX/UI Case Study

BRIEF

GoPro is a popular action-cam used by millions of people to capture their adventures. The current mobile app is only good for three things - to look at photos people have taken on their own cams, to edit those photos and to look at photos other people have taken around the world. For a camera that’s changing the world, this app is admittedly dull and doesn’t push the envelope. The aim of this project is to develop a mobile experience that appeals to the millennials and stands out amongst the photo environment today like Instagram, VSCO cam, snapchat, Tik Tok, etc.)

PROBLEM

Solo travelling culture and documenting ones life has increased significantly in today generation. While going on these experiences more and more people are opting for tools that enable them to capture these memories quick and easy. GoPros portability in size and weight pushes people in wanting to buy the product. THE PAIN POINTS: ▪️ Dull ▪️ Doesn’t appeal to millennials or today’s generation. ▪️ The current app has no concrete “Home Screen” or menu navigation to quickly view & go through everything. ▪️ The average user isn’t super tech savvy and needs to be a spot that is easy to edit.

Solution

HOW TO ATTRACT MILLENIALS: The target market for the latest GoPro app will be millennials. Millennials have grown with technology integrated into their everyday lifestyle hence, they expect instant gratification when using mobile and web applications. Its important to create design keeping in mind these features listed below for our target market. 1. Instant Gratification - Be able to get into an app, find what they need, and get out. Easy to navigate and operate quickly 2. Make it personal - Millennials want to feel special so take in account how to personalize the app to connect with the user in an empathetic way. 3. Create a consistent style guide - A strong style guide helps understand the brand better and feel as one collective group. 4. Create a sense of purpose around the app - A drive to accomplish specific goals in this project view, share, and edit GoPro cam videos motivate them to want to use the app further. Finding clear and action-oriented goals keeps the millennials loving the specific mobile app.
